If you have lost your dog and wish to submit its details to the council to be placed on the lost dogs register please e-mail all details to jack.adams@craigavon.gov.uk . The Dog Warden will then be aware that you have lost your dog and you wish for him to keep you in mind when he picks up the stray. Craigavon Borough Council's Dog Warden collects an average of 900 unwanted and stray dogs every year, from this total approximately 400 of these dogs are humanely detroyed because their owners can not be traced or they no longer want the dog. We are hoping that this year the number of dogs collected by the dog warden will decrease and also the number of healty dogs being humanely detroyed will also decrease. If you see a dog you recognise or would like to re-home, note the identification number and dog's details and contact our dog kennels at Hilltop Kennels, 16 Coharra Road, Portadown, Monday - Friday 10.00 am - 5.00 pm and on Saturdays from 10.00 am - 12 noon , 02838339240 or 02838393484, where the staff will be happy to help you. Northern Ireland has an on-going problem with stray dogs and the only way we can decrease the number of stray and unwanted dogs ending up on our street is by education. Craigavon Borough Council actively promotes and educates responsible dog ownership within our Borough Area. we work in partnership with The Dogs Trust to incrase the number of dogs that can be easily identified through micro-chipping and also to incrase the number of dogsand bitches in our area that have been neutured of spayed and this helps reduce the number of unwanted puppies in our area.
